Celebrate Earth Day in Van Cortlandt Park

The Bronx is NYC's greenest borough and the home of the largest park in NYC. That is something to recognize and celebrate!  It's is also important to maintain.

MillionTreesNYC has set a 10 year goal to plan and care for 1 million new trees across the five boroughs. On Saturday, April 25th from 9:00AM-1:00PM MilltionTreesNYC Spring Stewardship Day will take place in Van Cortlandt Park, the third largest park in NYC. To volunteer, please register online.

This spring's Stewardship Day will focus on stewardship and caring for young forests that have already been planted. In this endeavor, MillionTreesNYC and NYC Parks are joined by the Natural Areas Conservancy, a non-profit organization that was formed to restore and preserve the natural areas of New York City, including forests and wetlands, to enhance the lives of all New Yorkers.
We ask you now to continue the work that we've done together and to join us in meeting the next challenge to ensure a sustainable city.
Volunteer forest restoration stewardship activities will include:
  • Removing invasive weeds
  • Picking up litter
  • Spreading mulch
  • Raking and seeding
  • Planting new forest trees and shrubs
Registration is required. Register online
