Apply for a Free NYC ID before it's too late!
Interested in free museum, zoo memberships and entertainment discounts?! Well you only have a couple of weeks before it's too late to apply for the Free NYC ID.
The ID is free for all NYC residents (14 years or older), regardless of immigration status and past or present involvement with the criminal justice system through December 31, 2015. The ID card is valid for five years from the date of approval.
NYC residents can still apply for the ID after December 31, 2015- the one year introductory period.
To apply, you first need to prove your identity and that you're a NYC Resident. If you have a valid NY driver's license than that is all the documentation you need. If you do not have a NY driver's license, there is a point system that will help you determine the required documents. Three points of proof of identity, and one point of proof of residency are required. For a full list of accepted proof of identity and proof of residency, click here.
Secondly, you will need to fill out an application which is available in 25 languages. Applications can be downloaded here; applications are also available at the enrollment centers.
Finally you will need to make an appointment at an enrollment center, the appointments will last approximately 20 mins. There are 29 enrollment centers across all 5 boroughs, and you can visit any one near you.
