NYC Beer Week- February 21- March 2, 2014

The brewing industry has seen a resurgence in the city; consequently NY saw a 56% increase in beer events from 2010- 2013, making it the second fastest growing hosting state according to Eventbrite. Economically the numbers look good too- in 2012 NYC brewery payrolls totaled more than $6 Million, a 30% uptick from 2009; and employed approximately 213 people.

NYC breweries are not instinctively associated with the Bronx - Brooklyn and Manhattan take those honors. However, that's rapidly changing. The Bronx currently has four brewing companies- Bronx Brewery, City Island Brewery,  Gun Hill Brewing Co., and Jonas Bronck's Beer Co. All servicing different sections of the Bronx and serving unique flavors.

The Gun Hill Brewing Co. is special because the brewing is actually done on-site at their Bronx warehouse. The last brewery to do this was Rheingold,  back in the 1960s.

Be sure to check out and support our breweries. The Bronx Ale house will actually host all four, and the Yonkers Brewery on February 27, 2014 from 7:00 PM-10:00 PM. For more information regarding NYC Beer Week events  check out the Events page.
