Spring for the Bronx Action Tours!

The Bronx Tourism Council presents the Spring for the Bronx Action Tours, during the first three Saturdays in April.

Each tour is distinctly different and offers participants a unique way to experience the Bronx.  The price of each tour is $40 for adults and $20 kids under 12, prices include rentals and admissions.  The tour departs from two location, and includes round trip trolley service from Midtown Manhattan.

From Manhattann: Pickup: 9am    Return: 5pm

Bronx Spring Hiking Tour | April 5, 2014

Hike the Putnam Trail at Van Cortlandt Park, where the New York Central Railroad’s Putnam Division once ran. Learn about the Van Cortlandt and Vanderbilt families and what the park has in common with New York’s famous Grand Central Station. Then on to Woodlawn Cemetery, one of the largest cemeteries in New York and a designated National Historic Landmark. Hikers can pay tribute to illustrious Bronxites and other notables interred there (Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Herman Melville, Celia Cruz and others) while listening to biographical information from a tour representative


Bronx Spring Nature Tour | April 12, 2014

Experience the ecology, industry and history of the South Bronx waterfront as the Bronx River Alliance guides you, while padding your own canoe! Disembark right on the grounds of the New York Botanical Garden, where the group will break for lunch on their beautiful grounds. Lunch can be purchased at the NYBG café or pack a picnic!The adventure continues on to the Garden’s Orchid Show, an exhibition that celebrates the storied flower in all of its amazing forms with thousands of brilliantly colored orchids.


Bronx Spring Nautical Tour | April 19, 2014

Spend the day on City Island, a small community located at the edge of New York City just beyond Pelham Bay Park. The island is surrounded by the waters of westernLong Island Sound and Eastchester Bay.The fun begins with a guided tour through the island, followed by a visit to the Nautical Museum dedicated to City Island's past and present nautical heritage including the contributions of famous yacht builders and sail makers.Visit a local art gallery and hear from a long-time resident and professional photographer before breaking for a light lunch (meal not included in registration fee).End the day aboard the 65-foot Island Current* and fish for blues and striped bass.
